🎵 Your child may enjoy English songs but hesitate to answer a question. They may point to something they want, use a familiar word or prefer to listen before joining in.

📖 Our story-based activities give children clear starting points. A picture invites them to name an animal. A repeated story line gives them a phrase to try. A simple game creates a reason to ask, answer or take a turn.

👩‍🏫 Teachers offer examples, gestures and encouragement as children practise participating at a level that suits them.

🗣️ Speaking: Try Words and Simple Phrases

Children practise greetings, naming familiar objects, answering simple questions and expressing choices. Depending on their starting point, a response may be a word, a short phrase or a simple sentence.

👂 Listening: Follow, Notice and Respond

Children listen to stories, songs and clear teacher instructions. They practise pointing to the right picture, identifying familiar words and responding through actions or speech.

📖 Early Reading: Explore Pictures, Words and Meaning

Teachers guide children through shared picture-book reading. Children look at characters, follow simple events and connect language with pictures. Those who are ready can begin noticing and recognising familiar printed words.

🗣️ Pronunciation: Listen and Have a Go

Story audio, rhymes, songs and teacher modelling give children opportunities to hear and practise familiar sounds, words and short phrases. Repetition is woven into the activities as children work towards clearer speech.

🧩 How a Story Becomes an English Activity

A familiar story can lead to several short, connected activities:

👀 Look and listen: Explore the pictures and listen to the teacher tell the story.

🙌 Join in: Repeat a familiar word, action or story phrase.

🃏 Play with the language: Use picture cards, guessing games or matching activities.

🎨 Act or create: Pretend to be a character, draw a story scene or make a simple craft.

🙋 Share something: Name a picture, describe a choice or answer a question with support.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Activities and responses are adapted to the children in the group. The same story may lead one child to name an object and another to try a short sentence.

📚 Selected Cambridge Resources, Guided by the Teacher

Our camp draws on selected Cambridge story resources, with illustrated stories, audio and follow-up activities chosen for the group.

🧸 Familiar themes such as animals, toys, colours, numbers and everyday experiences give children something concrete to talk about. Teachers revisit useful words and phrases through listening, movement, picture work and conversation.

👩‍🏫 The stories and activities covered depend on the group’s learning needs and the length of attendance.

📖 Explore a Story. Hear the English.

✅ Interactive Classroom Activities

👩‍🏫 In class, teachers use pictures, gestures, questions and playful activities to help children understand the story and try familiar words or phrases. Activities are adapted to each group’s age and English experience.

👥 Small Groups with Space to Join In

🏫 Physical small-group classes create opportunities for children to interact with their teacher and classmates.

🗣️ Teachers can model a response, notice when a child needs another example and encourage participation during shared activities. Children practise listening to others, taking turns and using English with a partner or small group.

🌱 Some children begin by watching, pointing or joining in an action. Teachers can use these responses as a starting point for inviting a word or phrase.

🎯 A Starting Point That Fits Your Child

Children beginning to use English can practise naming, choosing, listening and joining repeated story lines with picture support.

🗣️ Short sentences and story sharing

Children already using familiar words and phrases can practise fuller answers, simple questions and short descriptions or story retelling with prompts.
